Tips for Colic or Infant Reflux

If your baby is diagnosed with colic or reflux there are many things you can do to help your baby, and yourself. Though there is no single medicine or proven cure and different babies are comforted by different measures, here are some various methods to try and see what works best for you.

Breastfeeding
Some women find that certain foods in their diet seem to make baby worse and may find that cutting certain foods out of their diet helps. These might include vegetables such as: cabbage, tomato, pepper, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, parsnips, onions, beans, garlic, apricot, melon, spicy food, caffeine and alcohol. By reintroducing foods gradually, you may be able to identify which food, if any, is causing the problem.

If there is a family history of milk sugar (lactose) intolerance, breastfeeding mothers could try eliminating cows milk from their diet. Sometimes babies are not able to digest lactose well, but this improves as your baby gets older.

Bottle Feeding
Parents who bottle-feed their babies may want to try a different formula.

Baby will always prefer movement and it is ideal to wrap him or her snugly in a blanket (The Cocooi™ swaddle is ideal for this). Another good tip is to have continuous noise or vibrations from music to household appliances like the dishwasher, vacuum cleaner or washer-dryer. We have also found that to give them a dummy to suck on can help to sooth them Another great way to help your baby is to give him or her tummy or back rubs, and our Organic Baby Oil is perfect to use after feeds.

Like anything it is important to talk to your health professional.

We hope these small tips may help you.
