BBC Radio 2- Chris Evans Show - 18/07/2008- 18.30 hrs
Chris Evans (Presenter)Now we have a baby thing gong on, how many of these are going to happen in the next few months, I wonder?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)I would think quite a lot.Chris Evans (Presenter)Why?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Britain is experiencing a modern day baby boom Chris. Women are giving birth to more children than at any time since the 1970s.Chris Evans (Presenter)Oh my goodness.Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)And you’re part of that. Now it’s good news for anyone who sells anything to do with babies, including today’s inventor, who has invented the Cocooi Babywrap. It’s a garment to swaddle a newborn baby in when you put them down to sleep. Now Chris, you’ve got it, you’ve also got a doll.Chris Evans (Presenter)I’ve got it baby, I’ve got a little baby doll here…How old’s my baby supposed to be?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)NewbornChris Evans (Presenter)Newborn?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)It’s littleChris Evans (Presenter)So what? Like a day, a week?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Yeah, like a day or a week oldChris Evans (Presenter)How old does a newborn last for, as a term?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Three monthsChris Evans (Presenter)Is that right?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)I thinkChris Evans (Presenter)And after, three months and a day no longer newborn?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)And then what, middle born?Chris Evans (Presenter)Got itRachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Right, you start swaddling, I’m going to speak to the woman behind it.Chris Evans (Presenter)I’m going, I’m swaddling away.Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Amie-Nilsson, now Amie where did the idea come from?Amie Nilsson (Guest)Ah look, lovely to meet you. Rachel and Chris, first of all I just wanted to say congratulations, I’m very excited to hear the news.Chris Evans (Presenter)Thanks so much, I’m swaddling already.Amie Nilsson (Guest),Well maybe we should have a track to go with this, and maybe: Queen, Under Pressure.Chris Evans (Presenter)Oh hang on a minute, you can’t get, you can’t sort of tow bar yourself into, crow bar yourself into All Request Friday as well.Amie Nilsson (Guest)Oh really? Oh shame.Chris Evans (Presenter)Well you have the business love, that’s enough, you know.Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Now Amie, tell me, where did this idea come from?Amie Nilsson (Guest)Well a long time ago for my first child I was sent a sleeping bag, and the sleeping bag that I was given contained polyesters and when my baby woke up in the morning she had a terrible heat rash. And I just realized that, although the labels said that they contained 100% natural fibres, it didn’t, it contained polyester. Now polyester is not a natural fibre, it’s full of synthetics.Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)And that’s one of the things you’ve done with this Babywrap isn’t it. It’s made of Merino wool…Amie Nilsson (Guest)That’s right.Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Just Merino wool, which you’ve called a super fibre, or a wonder fibre, what’s so wondrous about it?Amie Nilsson (Guest)Well it’s amazing actually, it regulates temperature and not only that it has a natural spring in it, so when you wrap the baby up it still allows it to have movement, which is really important for brain development. So it still has that ability of making it feel like baby is inside mus tummy, the baby’s still inside the womb. So it’s very nurturing and very, and very much feeling like it’s still,in a safe and cosy environment.Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)OK, now you launched the product back in February 2008 in New Zealand, you sold three months’ of stock in just three days so it’s pretty popular, have you got any celebrity mothers on your customer list yet?Amie Nilsson (Guest)Well we have a number of celebrities, and obviously I can’t mention too many names......, but Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman, may have been sent one or two. .....Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)For their twins. No how much does it cost and where can we buy it?Amie Nilsson (Guest)OK, they cost $34.50, and you can get it from the website, which is www.merinokids.co.ukRachel Horne (Co-Presenter)OK and Chris, how have you got on over there?Chris Evans (Presenter)Well I think I’ve done all right, on the Generation Game I’d probably get a quality eight out of ten, however I’d like to ask: do you do these in adult sizes because the babies look so cosy in them.Amie Nilsson (Guest)Well unfortunately we don’t but we have made them male proof, which is really important.Chris Evans (Presenter)Male proof?Amie Nilsson (Guest)YesChris Evans (Presenter)What does that mean?Amie Nilsson (Guest)It means that it’s a world's first male proof baby wrap,... it’s the first idiot proof Merino wrap.Laughter Chris Evans (Presenter)Oh, oh now I understand what you say. And by the way, I’ve got to tell you, Rachel you went and bought this little baby doll earlier onRachel Horne (Co-Presenter)YeahChris Evans (Presenter)And you got the blue eyes for the blue swaddling thing?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)That’s how forward planning and focused I amChris Evans (Presenter)Did you mean to do that?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Of course, it was very intentionalChris Evans (Presenter)Do you promise?Rachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Yeah, utterlyChris Evans (Presenter)All right, excellent, great guest, thank you so muchRachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Thank you AmieAmie Nilsson (Guest)Thank you, byeChris Evans (Presenter)Bye Bye now AmieAmie Nilsson Thank you Rachel and Chris, Bye Chris Evans (Presenter)Rachel and thanks, have a great week next weekRachel Horne (Co-Presenter)I will do, you have a great holidayChris Evans (Presenter)Have a great time, you’re going to see Springsteen tomorrow in Barcelona, very excitingRachel Horne (Co-Presenter)Have funChris Evans (Presenter)Thank you. |
