    Merino Sleeping Bag FAQs

Yes, baby sleeping bags are safe. When fitted well, baby sleeping bags are safe and can even help to reduce the risk of SIDS as they prevent babies from being able to wriggle underneath their bedding.

At Merino Kids, our sleeping bags are designed with safety and comfort in mind, and are made with all-natural fibres to help regulate your baby’s temperature. The material is also hypoallergenic and antibacterial, making it perfect for babies who have sensitive skin. Our sleeping bags comply with British Standard BS EN 16781:2018.

Yes, you can use your baby sleeping bag from birth up until around 36 months, as long as your baby’s head is bigger than the neck hole.

Typically, baby sleeping bags are used from birth until they are around 36 months old. Parents should use a baby sleeping bag from an early age to maintain a comfortable and consistent temperature for their baby throughout the night. Sleeping bags can also help newborns feel safe and comforted, while also giving them the freedom to wriggle.

A tog is a unit of measurement for the thermal resistance of textiles. This means that the tog rating of a baby sleeping bag will determine how thick it is, and therefore how warm it will keep your baby. The higher the tog rating, the warmer your baby will be.

Baby sleeping bags come in a variety of togs, usually ranging from 0.5 to 3.5.

We recommend having at least two sleeping bags to rotate. Depending on your baby’s room temperature, you may find you need different weights at different times.

Over the first six months, babies sleep for around 3,000 hours, and having a spare bag means you can keep your little one in their sleep routine while the other is being washed - especially useful in winter when drying can take longer.

The Go Go Bag® comes in two convenient sizes:

    • Baby - The baby (3-24mth) Go Go Bag can be used from 3 months (minimum weight 3.2kgs/7lbs) by fastening the domes under your baby's arms for about the first 6 months. It is designed to be worn until your baby's toes are touching the end of the bag. There is plenty of width and room for baby to grow into the baby sleep bag.
    • Toddler - The toddler (2-4y) Go Go Bag can be used from 12 months if your baby is on the tall side, again just fasten the domes under your baby's arms. They should grow out of needing to be in a sleeping bag before they physically outgrow this size.
